Croxden Village
The local BBC web site has information on Croxden Abbey :
St. Giles Church is a friendly, Anglican church based in the historical hamlet village of Croxden near to Uttoxeter in North Staffordshire.
During the winter our Sunday service is at 3pm each week. In the summer it is either 3pm or 6pm.
This is the usual monthly pattern:
First Sunday - Holy Communion (6pm in summer)
Second Sunday - Family Service
Third Sunday - Evensong (6pm in summer)
Fourth Sunday - Holy Communion
For details of services across the benefice, please look at the Welcome page.
Going somewhere new is never the easiest thing to do, so we hope our website helps you learn more about us, and makes that first visit easier. When you're ready, we have a Service every Sunday where we'd love to say hello in person.
We know St Giles won't be perfect for everyone, so if we’re not quite what you’re looking for, check out our other churches in the Benefice - St. Michael's Rocester and St. John's Hollington as well as All Saints in Denstone. We are sure that at one of our churches you'll find a home that suits.
And remember, if you’ve got any questions, just get in touch.
At a special Gift Sunday Service on 8th December at St Giles Croxden, generous parishioners came along to donate toys, chocolates, toiletries and warm hats and gloves to be distributed to local causes. Some of the items went to the Lou Macari hostel for rough sleepers in Stoke on Trent, another load was delivered to ASHA, also in Stoke, where refugees and asylum seekers are helped with everything from groceries to English lessons! They have about 200 children currently using the centre and they all seem to have great fun so the staff there were delighted to receive our gifts. The final recipient of toiletries, toys and chocolates was a local women's refuge. Their presents were picked up by a volunteer as obviously the precise location of these 'safe houses' must be kept secret. Thank you to all the generous people of Croxden & Hollington and a Merry Christmas!
Rogation Service was held at Homestead Farm, on Sunday 12th May at 3pm. We were blessed with beautiful weather and had a lovely time. The service was slightly early for Rogation, but that doesn't matter! We thanked God for His goodness and prayed for all who work upon the land and for God's blessing on this year's crops.
We had a wonderful time at the Plough Sunday service on 13th January 2019. The local farmers gathered around our traditional horse drawn plough for a blessing on their ploughing and work in the coming year.
